Methodology

How Owo decides what deserves a recommendation.

Shopowo removes products that fail hard requirements, then scores fit, value, fulfilment, evidence and freshness while keeping unknowns visible.

Short answer

Hard requirements come before ranking.

A product cannot earn its way around the wrong currency, an exceeded maximum budget, unavailable stock or a missing must-have. Eligible products are scored only after those gates pass.

The 100-point score

Fit45 pointsHow well the product satisfies the use case, must-haves and preferences.
Value20 pointsListed price relative to the stated budget, without cross-currency guessing.
Fulfilment15 pointsKnown catalogue availability and variant confidence.
Evidence10 pointsCompleteness of price, specifications, merchant data and ratings when supplied.
Freshness10 pointsHow recently the catalogue record was retrieved for this research run.

What Owo verifies

  • Current price and currency in the selected market.
  • Availability, selected variant and merchant-level options.
  • Core catalogue specifications and claims that affect the stated use case.
  • Delivery evidence only when the catalogue explicitly supplies it; otherwise a deadline cannot pass the hard gate.

How uncertainty is handled

Missing information is not treated as a positive. Owo labels unknowns, lowers evidence confidence where appropriate and avoids precise claims that the source data cannot support.

Recommendation roles describe a decision, not an absolute product ranking: best overall for the brief, best value among eligible choices and a meaningful alternative with a different trade-off.

Commercial independence

Merchant payments do not reorder independent recommendations. If Shopowo earns an affiliate commission after a purchase, the relationship is disclosed and remains separate from the scoring model.
